Do you have that voice in your head?  The one that interrupts while you're reading a novel to ask, "What can I eat?"  If I ignore it, it gets louder and repetitive:  "What can I eat? What can I eat?  WHAT CAN I EAT?"  And even if I find something to eat, it doesn't shut up.  Instead, it chants, "What can I eat now? What can I eat now?  What can I eat now?"
It's like having a three-year old in my head, a nagging, whiny, impossible-to-silence preschooler. 
It's not the voice of hunger.  It's not the voice of need.  It's the voice of distraction, the voice of habit, the voice of doom.
I guess the only thing to do is to answer the voice.
